My First Week!

So I would have to say that my first week of exercising was successful. I will eventually put my goals and stats, etc. on here, but I have yet to get that taken care of. I moved to Orem, Utah on December 27, 2012. So I have been here just about 3 weeks. I moved here with the intentions of getting a personal training job and starting a career that I would love to spend my entire life doing. However, that has not been the case. I forgot how insanely stressful and hard it is to find a job, especially in a college town. I have had a few interviews and am really hoping for a job, but in the meantime I am just trying to be patient and stay busy so I won't stress about it as much. Mark and I bought gym passes to the Orem Fitness Center so that we can go workout in the evenings.

I chose this place because it has a swimming pool. Now I may not be the greatest swimmer ever or the fastest, but I do like to swim as opposed to running. So last week I went and swam one day with one of my roommates and it was great! The pool is 50 meters which was a new thing for me, but I loved it! It made the swim seem faster because I wasn't turning as much. That night, Mark and I came back and did a cardio/strength training workout. I had to do a practical interview on Friday, so I put myself and Mark through a workout that I had made for my interview. Turned out to be a good idea because then I could tweak it up a bit to help me more to my advantage. The other cool thing about this fitness center is that it has an indoor track in the basement so we could run/walk on that instead of using the treadmills. I only use treadmills if I have to because it makes me feel like a hamster and I get bored super quick on them.

The next day after Mark got off work we went and ran a little bit and then did an upper body and core workout because our legs were both shot from the day before. After our workout we went and sat in the hot tub for a bit and then left. It feels so good to workout! I don't know why I ever stop working out and become lazy. Saturday we were going to go rock climbing, but after I slept in and was being slow, we decided to go do a little shopping and then we went to a UVU basketball game instead. It definitely wasn't a workout, but oh well. This week I plan on working out everyday. I had a job interview this morning, so after my interview I went straight to the fitness center and swam a mile before I came home because I knew that if I went home first I wouldn't go back. I am going back to the gym tonight and doing another workout of some sort...which I should probably make soon...and then I am going to have some chili for dinner because its so stinking cold outside. Not as cold as Big Piney, but i'm a baby when it comes to cold.

Hello All!

Hello Blogging World! I am new to this whole blog thing, but I am going to give it a shot. I am making this blog as a way to hold myself accountable towards achieving my goals for this upcoming year. I have decided for this year that I am going to become a healthier person and form some habits that I will keep the rest of my life. This is the time to do it. In the past I have put things off and then eventually just given up or forgotten about what I was going to do, so I will stop now! I am going to be held accountable for it now.

As I update this blog, I will be putting new goals and workouts on it. My goal is to update once every week and report on whether I have achieved the goals I listed and how it went. I will also put my workouts on it so you can all see what I did. I may put healthy meals or good meals that I have made that I thoroughly enjoyed, also. I will also be listing my personal stats just as a visual for me to see what I have accomplished.

I am a firm believer in self bribery...so as I progress through my goals, I will be bribing myself with some incentives to keep myself going. I will probably throw in a pair of shoes I want, a new outfit, some kitchen appliances, etc...the options are endless for me! I hope that as I go throughout the year, I will be able to just workout and be healthy because it is a common thing for me as opposed to bribing myself to get off my lazy butt and be active. My main motivator will be my amazing and awesome boyfriend Mark. A lot of the workouts  I will be doing with him because he is on the path to become fitter also. I am hoping I can get my family to make goals along with me and achieve them as well. Who knows...maybe I will throw in some bribes for them as well. Mark and I go on a lot of adventures together that involve hiking or biking or whatever so I will probably be blogging those things as well.

That is enough for my first post, so I hope that those of you who follow me or see this blog enjoy it! You are all welcome to comment and give me as much as advice as you feel I should have. You can even do the goals with me if you want. Take care.
